How to Put Ammonium Nitrate on Bamboo Plants

Bamboo, a member of the grass family, is a relative newcomer to the plant scene. According to Wayne Armstrong of Palomar College, the grasses evolved 30 to 40 million years ago. Gardeners have learned that bamboo grows readily in cultivation and adds interest to the landscape. Bamboo, like the grass in your lawn, responds well to applications of nitrogen. Ammonium nitrate is a form of nitrogen that helps bamboo plants thrive.
