How to Care for a Kalanchoe Bloom

Kalanchoe are a low-maintenance flowering perennial that will grow in containers or in a dry outdoor garden designed for succulents. Kalanchoe's brightly colored clustered blooms grow mostly in the spring but can grow and bloom year-round if potted and kept in a warm climate. Caring for the Kalanchoe blooms requires ample sunlight and minimal water. Kalanchoe plants are very forgiving so if you miss an occasional watering, they will bounce back quickly with the next one.

Instructions

Plant the Kalanchoe in a sunny location. If planting in a container, keep it on a window sill that gets ample sunlight during the day. If planting in an outdoor garden, find a location that will get partial to full light.

Water the Kalanchoe plant thoroughly after planting, then let the soil dry partially before watering again. If growing in a container, only water when the soil appears dry on top. If growing in a garden, you may water them daily, but if they get too much water, leaves may become yellow. Cut off the yellow leaves, and reduce the amount of water they receive daily.

Spray the leaves lightly using a spray bottle as needed to rid them of collected dust and dirt. Trim off dying leaves with scissors to keep the plant looking beautiful and healthy.
