How to Applique Fingernails

Fingernail appliques can be applied to acrylic nails as well as your own natural fingernails. Knowing how to apply appliques to your nails gives you the ability to bedazzle your fingertips with designs of your choosing. When you apply your own nail appliques you have control of the designs you choose and you save money by not having to go to a nail salon.

Nail applique sheet
Scissors
Bowl of ice water
Paper towel
Clear nail polish

Instructions

  Clean your hands and nails adequately before applying appliques.

  Select a fingernail applique sheet from a package purchased at a department or beauty supply store. Cut out the applique you want with a pair of small, sharp scissors.

  Drop the applique strip into the bowl of ice water. Let it float for just about a minute.

  Peel away the thin plastic film covering the front of the applique. Carefully place the applique-side down on the center of your fingernail. Press the wet strip of paper onto your nail firmly and leave it there for 10 seconds.

  Peel away the paper, exposing the applique on your fingernail. Let your nail air-dry for 20 seconds.

  Apply a single coat of clear nail polish to the nail to seal the applique in place.
