Instructions

    • 1

Wait until the Teucrium chamaedrys flower blooms wilt and turn brown in the early spring to perform the first trimming.

    • 2

Gather together a clump of the flower stalks in one hand at the location where you want to cut them off at. You can choose any height desired. Cut off the stalks straight across just below your hand using hand pruners or pruning shears. Place the stalks down on the ground in a small pile.

    • 3

Work your way across the remaining Teucrium chamaedrys plants gathering up clumps and cutting them off across the top at the same height.

    • 4

Examine the base of the Teucrium chamaedrys plants and identify any stalks that are lying on the ground instead of standing upright. Trace these stems back to where they come out of the ground and cut them off flush at the soil using the hand pruners.

    • 5

Peer into the center of the Teucrium chamaedrys clump and identify stalks that have green growth near the ends but are bare near the ground. These stems are older and should be removed at the base of the plant using the hand pruners.

    • 6

Gather up all of the trimmed off Teucrium chamaedrys stems and throw them away.

    • 7

Examine the stems again in the fall and repeat the trimming process if desired.
