Use your shovel to dig a hole based on the location and depth recommended on the label or tag attached to the plant. Place the plant into the hole and refill the hole with soil. Compact the soil by tamping it with the back of the shovel.
Use a hammer to drive stakes into the ground on either side of the vines. Tie pieces of twine around the stakes. Attach vine clips to the vines and attach the other ends of the twine to the tie clips. This will help support the base of the vines.
Water the vines according to the label or tag that came with the plant. Exact watering procedures for your vine will vary according to the weather and variety of your vine.
Use pruning shears to prune off two thirds of the vine's length every year to regulate the growth of your vine. Prune off excess shoots that sprout from the vine to maintain the desired look for your vine growth.
Install a trellis by positioning it against the wall and tapping it into the ground with your hammer. The vines will grow up the trellis and provide a decorative look to your wall.
