Best Way to Kill Moss on Bricks

Moss can grow quickly on a brick surface and can make a walkway slippery. Remove moss to prevent it from discoloring a surface and to restore the beauty of a brick walkway or wall. The best way to prevent future moss growth is to remove the source of dampness that causes the moss.

    • 1

Remove the lid on the pump sprayer. Pour in one part chlorine bleach to four parts of water. Place the lid on the sprayer.

    • 2

Mix the bleach and water together by churning the handle on the pump or shake the lidded container well.

    • 3

Spray the moss with the bleach/water mixture. Allow the mixture to remain on the bricks for one to two hours.

    • 4

Brush away the moss using the bristles of a stiff brush. Use a sharp shovel to remove thick moss growth.

    • 5

Spray the exposed brick again with the bleach mixture to remove any stains or lingering traces of moss.
