How to Grow a Vertical Kaffir Lime

Vertical Kaffir lime plants are generally grown in Asian countries, not just for the fruit of the tree, but for the leaves as well. The leaves are used as an ingredient in Thai recipes, such as soups and fish-based dishes. If you wish to grow a Kaffir lime plant of your own, you only need to make sure the plant has enough sun and the right nutrients.

Plant your Kaffir lime seeds in a position where there sun is shining for as much of the day as possible. This is known as a full-sun position and will ensure that the plant gets as much sun as it needs.

Water the plants daily and feed them every six to eight weeks. When feeding, alternate a citrus food product with a dynamic lifter product. Additionally, you can feed the plant with a 3- to 4-month Osmocote, as long as it is given during the spring or early summer.

Fertilize the plant every August and February when it is fully grown. A fully grown Kaffir lime plant will be around 1.5 meters tall, and must be well-watered when the fruit is forming in the spring and early summer.
