Orchids are bright and colorful and bring an elegant, sophisticated air to any indoor space. Although they aren't known for their overwhelming scent, the sweet orchid blooms, their growing foundations and water can all draw ants during the summer. Instructions

Spray the orchid and its foliage with an organic pesticide like neem oil or Orange Guard. This kills the ants on contact. If you don't want to use pesticide, mix white or apple cider vinegar with water in equal amounts. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle and spray the orchid.

Sprinkle gentle non-toxic ant repellants such as cinnamon, baby powder, ground black pepper or borax around the orchid pot. This prevents another invasion.

Find the ants' point of entrance, inside or outside the house, and use your household product or spray there as well. This prevents ants from entering the house at this spot. Replenish this application once a month to keep it fresh.
