How to Make Soil for Phalaenopsis Orchids

The phalaenopsis orchid is classified as a monopodial orchid. This means that it has a single stem that grows upright, as opposed to the sympodial orchids, which grow horizontally. Different types of orchids require different types of potting medium and few orchids actually grow in soil. Phalaenopsis is not one of those and its roots require something to hang on to, a quick-draining medium and good air circulation.
