How to Apply Neem Oil

Neem Oil is a broad spectrum pesticide, miticide, nematicide and fungicide. It repels a wide variety of pests including the mealy bug, aphids, thrips, whiteflies, mites, fungus gnats, beetles, moth larvae, mushroom flies, leafminers, caterpillers, locust, nematodes and the Japanese beetle. It can be used as a household pesticide for ant, bedbug, cockroach, housefly, sand fly, snail, termite and mosquitoes both as repellent and larvicide. Neem Oil also controls black spot, powdery mildew and rust (fungus). Neem Oil is not known to be harmful to mammals, birds, earthworms or beneficial insects such as butterflies, honeybees and ladybugs.

I recommend Calwest Tropical brand Neem Oil as it is cold-pressed 100% pure Neem Oil, the best on the market.

Here I will explain the proper preparation and application of Neem Oil for all plant types.

Instructions

    • 1

Dilute Neem Oil to 1 tablespoon per gallon. Most spray bottles hold around 32 ounces so you would use a little less than a teaspoon per spray bottle.

    • 2

As oil and water do not mix you will need an emulsifier to help disperse the Neem Oil in the water. Liquid dish soap works well and about a teaspoon per gallon, or a couple drops per spray bottle, should do the trick.

    • 3

Apply enough solution to both sides of the leaves to provide complete coverage. Frequently mix the solution as you spray.
