Plant your Star Orchid in a basket or pot with bark or any loose potting material which will allow for good drainage when you water the plant. Using a soil which holds water may cause the roots to rot, destroying the plant.
Find a location in your house which offers a shady area for your Star Orchid, where it will not be exposed to direct sunlight. Any windowsill or corner which is not directly in a sunlight path should be ideal.
Water your Star Orchid only when the potting material begins to dry out. Over watering or keeping your Star Orchid in wet soil will cause the roots to rot, which will destroy your plant. You will find that the Star Orchid will require less water in the winter months, after it has been flowering for some time.
Keep the ambient temperature of your Star Orchid's environment between 70 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit during the day, and between 60 to 68 degrees overnight.
