Kaleidoscope orchids like low light in the range of 800 to 1,500 foot candles. They can be grown in an east window or shaded western-facing window, but do not allow them to be exposed to direct sunlight.
Kaleidoscope orchids are intermediate to warm-growing orchids that prefer nighttime temperatures in the 60 to 70 degree range and daytime temperatures in the 70 to 85 degree range.
Kaleidoscope orchids like an even constant moisture but do not like to remain wet and should not be allowed to dry out. Humidity should be in the 50 to 80 percent range.
Re-potting should be done every one to two years as needed to prevent the potting media from decaying too much. They can also be grown mounted directly on bark or tree fern slabs if the humidity is high.
In order to initiate flower buds, there needs to be a constant temperature below 78 degrees for three to five weeks. Cold drafts, rapidly changing temperatures and humidity will cause flower buds to brown and fall off.
