Keep the Burrageara orchid in a 6- to 10-inch pot with a drainage hole to encourage quick drainage and balance the tall plants. Use an orchid potting medium or mix your own with peat moss or fern matter. Orchids require both drainage and air circulation around their roots, and fail in standing water or tight soil. Burrageara orchids may also succeed in loose peat potting soil.
Keep Burrageara orchids in well-lit areas, especially during winter. Place them in east-facing windows in winter and north- or south-facing windows in summer, for consistent morning and indirect light. Never put these orchids in dark or badly lit areas, as they will weaken and die.
Water Burrageara orchids at least once a week, when the planting foundation becomes dry to the touch. Give the orchids 2 inches of water at each watering, and never allow them to sit dry for extended periods of time.
Feed Burrageara orchids with orchid-specific water-soluble fertilizer. Add the fertilizer to a weekly watering once a month in winter and every other week in summer and during the blooming period.
