Fill a small orchid pot with orchid potting mix. Plant the roots of the Oncidium Twinkle in it. Every spring, take the plant out of the pot gently. Wash the container and repot the orchid using new potting mix. .
Fill a planter's tray with small rocks and water. Place the pot on the wet pebbles. Run a humidifier whenever conditions become very dry, when you turn the furnace on, for instance.
Keep the orchid in indirect sunlight all day, or expose it only to direct morning sun. The plant may also spend mornings outdoors whenever the temperature permits. Oncidium Twinkle requires a daytime temperature of 68 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. In winter, the nighttime temperature should range from 55 to 65 degrees.
Irrigate the plant whenever the soil is dry at a depth of 1 inch. Water until excess moiture emerges from the drain holes.
Select an orchid fertilizer and feed the Oncidium every other week in the growing season. Reduce fertilization to once a month in winter. Follow the application rates on the manufacturer's label.
