Types of Orange Orchids

Orchids are some of the best-loved flowers in the world. They are a favorite in weddings and other formal ceremonies. The orange orchid is elegant and rare. While these vibrantly colored flowers exist, they are more common in the Hawaiian Islands, Mexico and other warm tropical areas.
  1. Radicans

    • Radicans bloom year-round in Mexico. This flower has blooms that are a solid color of bright scarlet orange. The flowers are small and delicate with serrated edges. The plant grows in a vinelike form with leaves in pairs.

    Oncidiums

    • Oncidiums is another variety of orange colored orchids. A hybrid of the Oncidium known as Vanda ranges in color from bright yellow to orange or red. This variety is large and needs plenty of space. The blooms are from 2 to 4 inches across. This type of orchid commonly grows in Florida.

    Cattleya

    • This orchid has large, vividly colored flowers and a long lifespan. It is one of the most common orchids grown in Florida. The blooms may be any of several different colors, but the orange varieties are more widely grown.

    Lycaste Aromatica

    • The Lycaste Aromatica is an orange orchid grown in Mexico. It has tiny flowers with a rich orange color. The blooms are also be fragrant. This orchid blooms from April to May and is suitable for smaller spaces.

    Phalaenopsis

    • The Phalaenopsis is another orange orchid grown in Florida. The flowers were originally white or pink, but due to hybridization, it is now also available in orange. The flowers are 3 to 4 inches across and bloom from winter to early spring. This orchid does especially well in Florida's warm, humid climate.
