How to Display Orchids

Orchids are delicate and colorful flowers with specific needs to thrive. Once you master the art of growing orchids, there is a bounty of ways to display your beauties. One of the keys to finding interesting ways to show off your orchids is to look at ordinary objects commonly used for other purposes, then transform them into planters. Whether it's a crystal cake stand, a glass trifle dish or cylinder vase, your home is likely filled with creative pieces that will make attractive displays for your orchids.

  Place a potted orchid on a pedestal stand, then top it with a glass dome. Use a crystal cake platter or a unique wooden stand topped with a clear cloche jar.

  Submerge in water. Choose a tall glass vase of any shape. Insert orchids and fill with water to create a centerpiece.

  Choose a flowerpot that matches your bathroom decor and place on the bathroom counter or display shelf. The elevated humidity levels in the bathroom will be a treat for your orchid and aid in growth. Place flowerpot on a tray of pebbles soaked in water to provide additional moisture.

  Line a glass trifle dish with reindeer moss. Place the potted orchid on top of the moss.

  Choose a deep glass container, then add two inches of river rocks. Put sheet moss on top of the rocks and up the sides of the container with an opening for your orchid. Take orchid out of the pot, rinse the roots with a light spray of water and insert moist sphagnum moss between roots and on top of rocks. Place orchid on top.
