How to Grow Morning Glories in Pots Indoors

Morning glory plants are vining plants that produce trumpet-shaped flowers that are a striking purple. The foliage is dark green and heart shaped. The vines can reach up to 10 feet long, especially when planted in full sun. You can also grow morning glories indoors, though they will not produce as many blossoms and will not reach the full size of outdoor specimens. Indoor plants still require full sun to grow properly.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert a 2-foot garden stake into a plant pot so the stake rests against the side of the pot. Fill the pot with organic potting soil. The soil will hold the stake in place.

    • 2

Fill a bowl with warm water. Soak the morning glory seed in the water for 24 hours. Pat it dry with a paper towel.

    • 3

Make a hole 1/2 inch deep in the potting soil using your finger. Put the seed in the hole and cover it with soil. Water until the soil settles.

    • 4

Place the pot in your sunniest window. The spot should get at least six to eight hours of direct sunlight daily. If you do not have a sunny window, put the pot under an indoor grow light.

    • 5

Water whenever the soil begins to dry out. Water until the liquid comes out of the drainage holes in the pot.
