Dracaena is a genus of plants also known as corn plants. They are tropical plants that are commonly used as houseplants and in offices because they are low maintenance and have a naturally attractive appearance. They tolerate low and fluorescent lighting and do not need frequent waterings. The plants require trimming when their leaf tips become brown or when the stems need rejuvenation. Trimming is not necessary to maintain the plant's health, but it will increase the plant's nice appearance.

1
Trim off any leaf ends that have browned because of the fluoride in the water. Use sharp scissors and cut off just the brown portion of the leaf.
-
2
Cut back stems that are growing too bare for your preference using pruning shears. Cut the stem back to the height you want the dracaena, and the stem will sprout new leaves at that height.

Continue cutting off brown leaf ends whenever they appear. Do not use fertilizers with superphosphates because they can make the problem worse.
