Instructions

    • 1

Measure the distance from your kitchen ceiling to about 1 foot above your sink faucet with a tape measure. Purchase a hanging basket with an attached hook and chains that do not exceed the length of this measurement to prevent interference with the use of your sink.

    • 2

Transplant your plant into the hanging basket. Add soil and water. Weigh the watered plant on a scale. Purchase a ceiling hook that can support the weight of the hanging plant.

    • 3

Stand on a step stool or ladder. Run a stud finder along the ceiling above your kitchen sink to find a sturdy joist to hang the plant from. The stud finder will beep or flash a light when it senses a joist. Mark the spot with a pencil.

    • 4

Drill a hole that is one-half the diameter of the screw on the end of the ceiling hook in the marked spot above your sink. Twist the screw end of the ceiling hook into the ceiling so that the top of the hook is flush with the ceiling. Stand on the step stool or ladder, and hang the plant basket hook around the ceiling hook.
