How to Mount Vertical Succulents

Vertical succulent gardens take the beauty of these interesting plants to new heights. Instead of being planted in the ground or potted, the plants are placed into a frame and hung on the wall. Creating and mounting a vertical succulent garden takes a little time and patience, but is well worth it due to the visual appeal that the greenery has on indoor walls. Use a few simple tools and materials to get your garden started.

Instructions

    • 1

Attach a piece of screen to the front of a deep frame from the inside using tacks or a staple gun. Make sure that the screen is secured well to the front of the frame.

    • 2

Lay the frame on a flat surface and push potting soil through the front of the screen until it is filled. The screen will help keep the soil in place.

    • 3

Push succulent cuttings through the screen into the soil. Use cuttings that have a small stem still attached to them. Allow the cuttings to take root in the soil, which takes approximately seven days. Water the succulents at this time until the soil is saturated. Leave the frame sitting flat for an additional two to three days for drainage.

    • 4

Hammer a nail into the wall in the place that you wish to hang the frame. Attach the frame to the nails using the wire on the back of the frame.

    • 5

Take the vertical succulent down once a week and water it while it's lying on a flat surface. Allow one day for the soil to drain before hanging it back onto the wall.
