How to Care for Wisteria Vine Indoors Until Planting Time

Wisteria is considered an old-fashioned garden beautifier. Once established, it is resistant to pests, is cold- and drought-hardy, and needs virtually no care. The showy and fragrant flowers are prolific from spring until frost and are available in a wide variety of colors, the most common being purple.

Instructions

    • 1

Keep the wisteria vine in a sunny location. A young wisteria vine likes a sunny spot. Choose a window that gets several hours of sunlight per day.

    • 2

Water the wisteria vine sparingly. Although wisteria does well in moist locations, the more water that is provided, the faster the vine will grow. Indoors, water sparingly until planting season.

    • 3

Harden the wisteria vine before planting. As it gets warmer outside, take the vine and set its pot outside for a few hours a day. This helps acclimate it for planting.
