Select a pot that has a diameter one-half the height of the plant, if placing the plant in a new pot.
Put 2 inches of gravel or rocks at the bottom of the pot for water drainage.
Fill the pot one-quarter of the way with damp potting soil.
Place a plant into the pot gently, allowing its roots to spread out.
Fill the rest of the pot with damp potting soil, leaving about 1 inch of space between the soil and the top of the pot.
Compact the soil around the plant’s roots by pressing down on the soil with your thumbs.
Water the plant and keep it in a dimly lit room for a few days so that it can adjust to its new surroundings.
