How to Dry Mint Tea

Many gardeners grow mint in their home garden. It has a strong aroma and flavor and is often used in teas. The plant can be harvested throughout the growing season and it will continue to produce more stems, although during the summer it can slow down in growth, but should return back to full vigor in the fall. Harvested mint stems are often dried and crushed for future use and, fortunately, they are easily dried just like other herbs.

Instructions

    • 1

Gather the harvested mint into bunches.

    • 2

Tie the mint together with string.

    • 3

Hang the mint upside down in a warm, dark place with good air ventilation. Air ventilation is critical, otherwise the mint may become moldy.

    • 4

Check on the mint in a week or two. If the leaves crumble easily, the mint is dry and the leaves are ready to crush to use in tea or to store for future use.
