Ways to Use Mint Tea Leaves

Fresh mint is one of the most versatile herbs that grows in your garden. Because it grows in abundance, there is never a shortage of ways to use it. Mint is known not only for its refreshing flavor appeal, but for its medicinal properties in healing nausea, upset stomachs, colic in children and indigestion. Mint also contains cleansing properties, so it is useful in your beauty routine as well as your kitchen.
  1. Facial Cleanser

    • Mint has purifying properties, making it an ideal ingredient in homemade facial washes. Finely chop ½-cup of mint. In a bowl, mix 1 tablespoon of coarse sea salt, the chopped mint and a tablespoon of your favorite facial cleanser. Apply to skin and rinse in a circular motion to stimulate the cells for up to three minutes and rinse well with warm water.

    Mint Tea

    • Mint tea is an ideal after-dinner drink to aid in digestion and refresh the palate. Steep a small handful of mint leaves in boiling water for 10 minutes. Lightly bruise the leaves with a spoon to release their oils. Strain the leaves and pour the tea into serving cups and sweeten with honey or sugar to taste. You can serve this tea hot or cold.

    Bath Scrub

    • A fresh mint scrub can invigorate your skin during a bath. Mix ¼-cup of Vitamin E oil with a large handful of mint leaves. Crush the leaves so their natural oils and essence begin to infuse with the Vitamin E. Let the mixture sit for up to a week. To make a mint bath scrub, mix 1 cup of coarse sea salt, ½-cup of massage oil or extra virgin olive oil, and 6 to10 drops of the homemade mint oil together; mix well. Apply the scrub to wet skin for an exfoliating experience.

    Mint Pesto

    • Make a homemade mint pesto sauce to serve with dishes like roast lamb or fresh salads. Crush 3 tbsp. pine nuts in a food processor on medium speed. Add 2 cloves garlic, 1 cup mint, 2 tbsp. fresh rosemary and ¼-cup Parmesan cheese and mix on slow speed. Gradually add ¼-cup olive oil. The pesto is done when the sauce is smooth.
