How to Use a Fresh Aloe Vera Gel Plant

Aloe vera is a popular herb used in natural medicinal remedies. Many people keep an aloe house plant to remedy minor injuries, as it is best known for its healing abilities. The gel from inside an aloe leaf can soothe burns, skin irritation and other dermatological problems, which is why it is used in many after-sun lotions as well as skin emollients.

Instructions

    • 1

Use a knife to cut an aloe leaf off of the plant at the very bottom. The knife should be sharp for easier cutting, as the leaves of an aloe plant can be very thick.

    • 2

Remove the spiky edges of the leaf by trimming them with scissors or running a knife around the edge of the leaf.

    • 3

Slice off the green, top layer of the leaf to reveal the gel pack.

    • 4

Apply the gel directly onto your skin. You may apply liberally, as you can simply slice off the top layer of the gel pack to reveal more of the aloe juice after the top layer has dried.
