How to Make a Herb Grinder

Herb grinders are not very expensive and it is fairly easy to find one that costs less than $20. Sometimes, however, the lack of an herb grinder in the kitchen is only realized at the moment it is needed. Running to the store just to buy a grinder would be a waste of time, especially if there is already an available alternative for grinding herbs. Not a lot of people know that most blender blade assemblies are actually made to fit standard-sized and wide mouthed mason jars. In fact, mason jars used to come with purchases of Oster blenders.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the base from the blender and screw it on the mason jar to check if it fits. The blades are very sharp so make sure to handle them carefully. Also make sure that the blade does not touch the sides of the jar.

    • 2

Place the herbs to be ground inside the jar. Do not pack the herbs inside the jar. Allow room for the blender blades to work.

    • 3

Screw the base back on the jar. Make sure that it is sealed tightly to prevent herbs in the jar from flying out.

    • 4

Place it on the blender. The jar itself should be positioned with its bottom on top.

    • 5

Grind the herbs in pulses until the desired consistency is reached.
