Pour 1 ounce of slippery elm powder into a soup pot. Slowly add water while you stir until the mixture forms a thick paste.
Turn the stove on to medium-high heat and slowly begin adding more water. Continue adding water until you have one part powder to eight parts water. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
