Calendula for Fleas

Calendula petals have a wide range of uses including culinary uses, potpourri, tinctures taken internally and external ointments. Calendula has no insect-repellent properties, but it's useful for treating flea bites and irritations.
  1. Benefits

    • Calendula petals have antiseptic, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory qualities. The soothing properties help heal flea bites, itching and other skin irritations caused by fleas.

    Uses

    • Calendula is safe to use on children and pets. Use an infusion to treat the affected areas. It's also helpful in healing sores caused by excessive scratching.

    Method

    • Calendula creams and lotions are available for purchase in most health food stores. You can make your own infused oil by steeping fresh petals in warm vegetable oil for several hours.
