How to Make Fruit Powder

Fruit powder is commonly used to cook with or to bake with. The powder mixes with other ingredients to form a unique flavor. You can taste the fruit depending on how much powder you put into your dish. The fruit powder also gives off the fruit scent when you add heat to the dish with the powder in it. You can make your own fruit powder by choosing a fruit you want, drying it and blending it in a blender.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose the fruit from which you want to make fruit powder. Any kind of fruit will work. Slice the fruit with a knife into small bite-sized pieces.

    • 2

Dry the cut fruit by either sitting the fruit outside in a cookie sheet on top of a table or chair if the climate temperature reaches over 90 degrees Fahrenheit. If the temperature is less than this temperature, you can dry the fruit in your oven.

    • 3

Preheat the oven for five minutes at 200 degrees. Open the oven and insert the cookie sheet holding the fruit slices onto one of the racks. Close the oven door.

    • 4

Leave the fruit slices in the oven for two hours or until you touch the fruit slices and the fruit slices are firm.

    • 5

Remove the cookie sheet holding the fruit slices from the oven. Allow the fruit to cool for five hours at room temperature on top of the oven.

    • 6

Empty the fruit slices from the cookie sheet into the blender. Blend the dried fruit slices until you see powder forming. After the powder reaches the desired texture, stop the blender.
