How to Simmer Dried Elderberry Teas

The elderberry's dried fruits and flowers make a delicious tea, especially when mixed with other herbs and teas. Pure elderberry tea is an acquired taste. In addition to flavor, it has medicinal properties. Elderberry tea has been used for centuries to clear sinuses and alleviate the symptoms of the common cold and flu. To use elderberry tea medicinally, simmer the tea and drink it three times daily.

  • Elderberry, dried
  • Tea strainer
  • Pot

Instructions

      Place 3 teaspoons of dried elderberry flowers or berries into a tea strainer.

      Bring 1 cup of water to a simmer.

      Place the tea strainer into the water.

      Leave the tea to simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.

      Remove the strainer.

      Pour the tea into a cup and allow it to cool for a few minutes before drinking. Add honey, lemon or sugar for flavor if desired.
