How to Remove a Cucumber Bush After a Harvest

When you are growing your own cucumbers from your garden, the cucumbers will harvest in about 50 to 70 days. Once you have your desired amount of cucumbers for the season, or the weather is no longer permitting cucumbers to grow, you can remove the bush from your garden to free up space for other vegetables. Removing your cucumber bush does not require much effort, and you can accomplish the removal at any time during or after the harvesting season.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the remaining cucumbers from the bush if you desire.

    • 2

Grasp the vine at the soil level and slowly pull upwards to remove the roots along with the vine. Depending on the size of the vines, and the depth of the roots, use a hand shovel to help dig out the roots if they do not come up with ease.

    • 3

Place the vines into a trash bag and tie the bag up.

    • 4

Dispose of the trash bag away from other vegetable plants to ensure pests and any possible diseases that the cucumber plant may have carried will not spread.
