Prepare the soil for planting. Lettuce grows best in a cooler area of the garden that does not receive direct sunlight. The soil itself should be quite rich, with a pH level of 6.5 for optimal growth.
Sprinkle the seeds into 13-millimeter-deep holes, 30 centimeters apart. Lettuce plants do not like being moved, so make sure you plant them exactly where you want them to grow.
Cover the seeds with soil and then water them. The seeds should germinate in about six to 12 days. Water the plants about twice a week depending on the amount of rainfall. Once they grow, trim them down slightly to prevent overcrowding.

Sprinkle the seeds into 1-centimeter-deep holes that are in rows 30 centimeters apart. As a general rule of thumb, you should plant about 10 seeds per 30 centimeters.
Cover the seeds with soil and water them. Spinach requires watering about twice a week if there is no rainfall. Spinach likes to be sprayed with a gentle overhead mist to keep it cool on hot days.
