Measure out 1 cup of sunflower seeds. Soak the seeds overnight in 2 cups of water.

    • 2

Spread the perlite evenly into the bottom of your seed starter tray. Fill the tray about half full of the perlite.

    • 3

Drain the water from your sunflower seeds. Spread the seeds evenly over the surface of the perlite so that there is space between the seeds. Place the tray in a sunny window.

    • 4

Mist water over the seeds two to three times a day to keep them moist. Cover the tray to keep your seeds from drying out.

    • 5

Check your sprouts each day once they appear to determine the best time to harvest them. Watch for the first two leaves, before the true leaves appear, to open. Cut the sprouts with scissors at the base of the plant to harvest them.

Continue to mist water over the seed tray after harvesting the sprouts. You should be able to harvest sunflower sprouts a few times.
