Instructions

    • 1

Select a location for your Yves Piaget rose bush that receives full, direct sunlight for at least six hours, preferably in the morning.

    • 2

Amend the soil by mixing a 2- to 4-inch layer of organic matter, such as compost or peat moss, with 3 pounds of superphosphate per 100 square feet of the planting area. Mix together with a shovel to a depth of 12 inches.

    • 3

Place the rose bush in a hole 15 inches deep and 18 inches wide, making sure the root ball is at the same depth it was in the nursery container. Backfill the hole with soil and water deeply to settle the soil around the roots.

    • 4

Water the Yves Piaget 1 inch a week if rainfall is inadequate making sure to soak the ground to a depth of 10 to 12 inches to promote deep rooting. Water in the morning at soil level.

    • 5

Apply a 2- to 4-inch layer of organic mulch, such as cocoa been hulls, to retain moisture, ward off weeds and reduce irrigation.

    • 6

Fertilize three times a year with a rose fertilizer or a general purpose fertilizer (10-10-10). Fertilize in the early spring after the spring pruning, again when the roses bloom and the last time in mid to late July. Sprinkle a one-fourth cup of fertilizer around the rose bush and water deeply.
