Beautiful and healthy roses are not out of the question for amateur gardeners. In fact, with a homemade fertilizer, you can alter the soil composition in your garden so that your roses grow quickly and with healthy blossoms. Ensuring that the soil is filled with nutrients is one of the easiest ways of obtaining and maintaining healthy roses. A magnesium-, potassium- and nitrogen-rich fertilizer is easy to mix in less than 30 minutes.
Spread out several sheets of newspaper onto a flat, even surface.
Remove used coffee grounds from your coffee maker and pour them onto the newspaper sheets.
Spread out the coffee grounds evenly onto the newspaper with your hands so that they are in a single layer and can dry out quickly.
Spread the dry coffee grounds around the base of your roses and integrate slightly into the top 2 inches of the soil. The roses will benefit from the acidity of the grounds as well as the potassium, magnesium and nitrogen.
