Rose bush sizes vary depending on what species of bush you plant. The perennial shrubs have thorns to protect the bush from predators such as rabbits and other animals. Bushes are well-known for their large colorful flowers in yellows, reds, pinks, white and orange. There are grandiflora, miniature, floribundas and polyanthas.
Grandiflora roses are hardy with smaller flowers than the hybrid tea roses. Grandiflora roses reach a height of 5 feet. "Arizona" and "Queen Elizabeth" are grandiflora rose bushes. Queen Elizabeth is a vigorous and hardy rose bush. Open-cupped flowers 4 inches in diameter bloom as a dawn to pinkish color.
Miniature rose bushes only reach heights of about 6 inches. Bushes have smaller leaves and flowers compared to larger rose bushes. "Gourmet Popcorn" and "Behold" are miniature rose bushes. Gourmet Popcorn rose bushes have clusters of white flowers covering the bush. Behold has small yellow flowers with 15 to 20 tiny petals on each flower.
Floribundas are a cross between a polyantha and hybrid tea rose. The rose bush has tiny flowers in clusters. These bushes take more neglect than other rose bushes. "Iceberg" and "Living Easy" are floribundas cultivars. Living Easy grows up to 6 feet tall with large apricot flowers that turn to an orange color when in full bloom. Iceberg will reach heights of 6 feet with double white flowers in clusters.
Polyanthas make good border bushes and grow to about 3 feet tall. Bushes have large clusters of flowers, but the individual flower is smaller than the flowers of the grandiflora bush. "Cecile Brunner" is a polyanthas rose bush cultivar that has coral-colored flowers 2 inches in diameter. The compact rose bush flowers have a spicy scent. Another rose bush cultivar is "Marie Pavie," which has pink semi-double blooms that fade to white.
