Green fruit beetles (Cotinus mutabilis) are 1¼-inch long, metallic green beetles with C-shaped white grubs. The beetles appear in summer and feed on ripe figs. Green fruit beetles are difficult to control as they fly in from distances to infest trees.
Driedfruit and sap beetles (Carpophilus spp.) are very small, winged black or brown beetles with antennaes. The bugs enter growing fruit and transmit rotting organisms that lead to fruit souring. Infected fruit becomes highly susceptible to other insects like flies.
Darkling beetles are blue black to brown beetles with antennae that are broad at the top and narrower at the base. Darkling beetles feed on fruit at night are sometimes seen running on the ground during day.
