Clean a glass or plastic container thoroughly.
Line the bottom of the container with wood moss.
Place two or three pieces of charcoal on the moss and cover it with between 1/2 inch and 1 inch of gravel. Clean the gravel before placing it in the terrarium.
Place as much soil in the container as moss. Level out the soil.
Clean the leaves of the plants chosen for the terrarium with warm water and a plant brush. Remove any dirt, insect larvae and other debris from the plant as best as you can. This will help prevent any disease from entering the terrarium and killing the plants.
Plant the plants in the soil in a decorative pattern, and include any clean accessories, such as rocks, to create an aesthetically pleasing container.
Sprinkle the soil with water, but do not soak it to the point of having a pool of water gather in the bottom.
Cover the container with its lid, and place it in bright light but not direct sunlight.
Rotate the terrarium often to get the sunlight on all the plants evenly to keep them growing properly.
Remove dead leaves and dying plants as often as needed to keep the succulent terrarium thriving.
