Pour boiling water over the seeds, and let them soak in the water for 24 hours. An alternative pre-treatment method is to create a scarification composed of 50 percent concentrated sulfuric acid, soak the seeds in the solution for about 50 minutes, wash them in cold running water and dry them in a non-lit area overnight.
Plant the seeds no deeper than 1.6 inches in soil in cylindrical, metallic containers that measure 4 inches in diameter and 12 inches tall. Sow only two seeds in each container.
Mix soil and manure, and form the mixture into clumps. Slit each clump, and sieve one piece at a time using fine wire mesh. Sieve the material until it has no clumps and is a fine texture. Use equal parts of the mixture, which is powdered manure, to seal the soil in the metallic containers.
Water the planted seeds twice each day, and provide shade for them in order to reduce water usage. Germination of the seeds should start about day four after planting and complete by the 10th day. In some cases, however, the seeds may take 60 to 70 days to germinate successfully.
