How to Care for Glamini Gladiolus

Glamini gladiolus is a type of flower that was discovered and developed in Holland. These flowers are very popular not only because they are a mere 20 inches tall, half the height of other gladiolus, but also because they are very pest resistant and bloom 10 to 15 days earlier than normal gladiolus. Each bulb produces up to two plant spikes and each stem produces up to 10 blooms. You can expect the Glamini gladiolus to bloom 70 to 100 days after planting.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose an area with either full sun or partial shade to plant the Glamini gladiolus. Use sandy soil that contains organic matter and that is well drained.

    • 2

Plant the flower bulbs 3 inches deep in early spring. Space the bulbs 3 to 4 inches apart.

    • 3

Water the bulbs after planting them and continue to water the plants regularly throughout the spring and summer.

    • 4

Fertilize the plant after the first spikes appear. Fertilize the plant again later in the season after picking any of the flowers.

    • 5

Cut off the flower stalk 1 inch above the corm 8 to 10 weeks after the plant finishes flowering. If you live in an area with frost, dig up the bulbs and store them in a dark, cool location that is free from frost.
