Instructions

    • 1

Locate an area that receives filtered but not direct sunlight. The area should be shaded and away from where people walk often.

    • 2

Use the hose to soak the area with cool water for 15 minutes. The water does not need to be ice cold but shouldn't be hot. Wait at least five minutes after soaking until puddles are no longer visible.

    • 3

Use your hands to pick up and clear debris such as branches, leaves, rocks, and weeds.

    • 4

Use a rake to gently rake the dirt. This will help to move around and fluff the soil.

    • 5

Take the spores in your hand and spread them evenly over the growing area. They should be scattered across the area and not piled up. Do not cover them with dirt or debris. Don't push them into the dirt, let them rest on the surface.

    • 6

Fill up a watering can with cool water. Again it does not need to be ice cold but should not be hot.

    • 7

Water the entire growing area until the dirt is moist but not soggy. You may need to fill the watering can a few times during this process.

    • 8

Spread some oak wood chips over the growing area to cover the spores.

    • 9

Monitor the growing area daily to remove leaves, sticks, and weeds. Monitor the growing area for dryness. If the ground is dry and no rainfall has occurred, water with the watering can to keep the ground moist.

    • 10

Watch for growth of the mushrooms between the months of February and May.
