How to Make Dandelions Die

Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) is a major weed in turf, pastures and ornamental plants. The plant is a native of Europe and has been used for centuries as a medicinal plant in many cultures around the world. The vigorous taproots that can go as deep as 15 feet make the control of dandelions very hard. The foliage grows in a cluster at the base and the puffy flower heads grows on tips of 6- to 24-inch-long stalks. The best way to get rid of the weed is to mechanical methods or with a recommended herbicide.

Spray each weed keeping the nozzle very close to the weed base, taking care not to spray any surrounding grass or desire plants. Cover all foliage.
