How to Make Mint Juice With Mint Leaves

Mint juice, the basis for refreshing and cooling beverages, is known as pudina in Indian cuisine. The juice is similar to limeade with minty notes. The green beverage can be spiced with curry, pepper, cumin, and other seasonings, or it can be served as a citrus mint infusion. Pudina can be drunk hot or cold, and is an excellent palate cleanser between courses. Many believe mint settles the stomach, and it freshens the breath.

Things You'll Need

  • Sharp knife
  • 1 cup fresh mint leaves
  • 1 cup lemonade
  • 1 liter mineral water
  • 8 ounces sugar
  • 1 teaspoon anise powder
  • Cinnamon
  • Saucepan
  • Stove
  • Strainer
  • Lemon slices

      Pull the leaves from the stem. The stem will make the drink turn black. Roughly chop the leaves, and put them in a saucepan. Add lemonade, mineral water, sugar, anise powder, and cinnamon, and let the ingredients sit for two hours to marinate.

      Place the saucepan on the heat source, and bring it to a boil. Let the mixture boil for three minutes, and then remove the pan from the heat. Allow the juice to cool naturally for about 15 minutes. The mint is steeping in the liquid and adding flavor to the drink.

      Strain the mixture, and discard the solids. Serve the drink hot or cold over ice, with a sprig of mint and a slice of lemon.
