How to Make a Bamboo Shoot Out of Paper

Whether you're making a diorama or adding budget-friendly decor pieces to your environment, it's easy to make embellishments out of paper and other craft materials. Making bamboo shoots out of paper allows you to add decorative touches to a island-themed party or a kid's room. Making the paper bamboo shoots also serves as a fun craft project to complete with your own children. Very minimal time is needed to complete this simple craft endeavor.

Things You'll Need

  • One sheet spring-green construction paper
  • Two sheets forest-green construction paper
  • Paper towel tube
  • Craft glue stick
  • Scissors

Instructions

    • 1

Lay the sheet of spring-green construction paper out flat, situated vertically instead of horizontally in front of you.

    • 2

Place one of the forest-green construction paper sheets above the spring-green sheet, overlapping it by 4 inches.

    • 3

Cover the entire surface of a bare paper-towel tube with craft glue. Use either a nontoxic craft glue stick or a craft spray adhesive. Press the tube, vertically, at one end of the overlapping sheets of paper.

    • 4

Roll the papers, together, over the tube, tucking the paper under the tube as you roll. This creates a shoot-like shape out of the paper. Let it dry for 10 minutes.

    • 5

Draw about 12 small leaves on the other piece of forest-green paper with the markers, looking at a picture of bamboo for inspiration. Bamboo leaves are very simple in design. Cut each individual leaf out of the sheet of paper. Cover the back of each leaf with glue.

Attach each glued leaf to the surface of the paper tube. Let it dry for an additional 20 minutes to assure the glue sets fully.
