Granular Flea & Tick Pesticides

Fleas and ticks are often controlled with pesticides, a number of which are available in granular form. As cited by the University of Florida Extension, nearly 2,000 species of fleas have been identified worldwide. Ticks are very small members from the spider family and transmit diseases as they bite humans and animals.

  1. Carbaryl

    • Carbaryl is among the granular pesticides that effectively controls more than 100 different species of insects including fleas and ticks. This general-use pesticide is safe for use on pets and works through ingestion or direct contact. The pesticide is sold under a variety of different trade names.

    Cyfluthrin

    • Clyfluthrin pesticide is available in granular form and controls a number of pests, such a ticks, fleas, beetles, weevils and sucking pests through ingestion and contact. The chemical is a synthetic pyrethroid that mimics the action of naturally occurring pyrethroids. Obtain cyfluthrin under various trade names.

    Methoprene

    • Methoprene granular insecticide controls targeted pests like ticks and fleas by interfering with their normal growth and maturity. The pesticide is classified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as an insecticide and growth regulator.
