How Long Do Jasmine Flowers Last?

Jasmine (Lamiales Oleaceae Jasminum), a member of the olive family, grows primarily in the tropical and subtropical regions of the world. The bush variety tops off at a mature height of 10 to 20 feet. Some jasmine varieties grow as a flowering vine. Jasmine may be deciduous, semi-evergreen or evergreen, and the blossoms may be white, pink or yellow. Some flowers are fragrant while others have no aroma. All varieties bloom in the evening.
  1. Winter Jasmine

    • Winter jasmine (Jasminum mesnyi), also called primrose jasmine, has unscented yellow flowers. One variety, "Mystique," has yellow blossoms with silvery white edges. Winter jasmine produces flowers first, and then the leaves appear. The plant usually begins blooming in late February and continues throughout March. However, the flowers may bloom earlier if there are warm spells during the winter months.

    Common Jasmine

    • Common Jasmine (Jasminum officinale), popularly called poet's jasmine, is the plant with the sweet fragrance that many people associate with jasmine. You can train it to grow on a fence or trellis. The white flowers bloom profusely during the summer months of June, July and August.

    Italian Jasmine

    • You can grow Italian jasmine (Jasinum humile) as either a vine or a shrub. Train it to a trellis to grow as a vine or leave it alone to grow as a vining shrub up to 20 feet tall. The yellow flowers are strongly aromatic and bloom throughout the summer.

    Spanish Jasmine

    • Spanish jasmine (Jasminum grandiflorum) grows as a vine that is either deciduous or semi-evergreen, depending on your climate. The white flowers are fragrant and blossom during the summer season.

    Pink Jasmine

    • Pink jasmine (Jasminum polyanthum) is an evergreen vine that you can grow either indoors or outside. The plant needs a chill time or it will not set buds the following season. The flowers are pink-tinged white and blossom from spring to early summer.
