Instructions

    • 1

Place potted Jasmine on a window sill out of direct sunlight. The room should get lots of natural light. The windowsill is the coolest place in the room, which is best for jasmine, as the plant requires a temperature of 65 degrees Fahrenheit or below.

    • 2

Run a humidifier in the room in which you've placed the plant. Jasmine prefers a humid environment, so if you keep your plant in a bathroom with a frequently used shower, you can skip the humidifier altogether. Jasmine fragrance also enhances the smell of a bathroom.

Mix a diluted or half-strength version of a liquid fertilizer according to the package instructions. The amount mixed depends on the manufacturer's specifications. Use a liquid fertilizer with 10 percent nitrogen, 10 percent potassium and 20 percent phosphorus. Mix fertilizer in your watering can and pour it directly into the plant's soil. Treat your jasmine with the solution once a month during the spring and summer. Do not fertilize jasmine in the fall and winter.

Regularly feel the top half-inch of potting soil around your plant. When the soil feels dry, water the plant, using a watering can and saturating the top half-inch of the soil. Do not overwater jasmine, as soil that is too soggy will harbor rot.

Trim and prune jasmine after the plant flowers to increase flowering and overall health, using scissors. Do not trim indoor jasmine plants after Aug. 1, as you run the risk of trimming off the next season’s growth.
