Yellow jasmine is also referred to as Carolina yellow jasmine (or jessamine) and evening trumpet flowers. This perennial vine is especially common in the south. When unsupported, it grows as a ground cover.
Yellow jasmine typically grows 10 to 20 feet tall and has a 3- to 6-foot spread. Dark green leaves take on a somewhat purple or yellow cast in the winter. Yellow trumpet-shaped flowers grow in clusters and are highly fragrant.
Yellow jasmine is recommended for USDA hardiness zones 7 to 10. It is a suitable porch or patio cover when grown on a trellis. It easily grows up trees and over fences. Yellow jasmine is poisonous and should never be ingested.
Yellow jasmine prefers and grows best in full sunlight and moist (well-drained) soil with a pH range of 6.8 to 7.2. However, it does grow in partial shade. It is both heat and cold tolerant.
