Granule Bug Killers for a Lawn

Imidacloprid

• Imidacloprid is effective for controlling white grubs in lawns and is sold in the form of granules. Apply this pesticide evenly on lawn and water well. The best time to start using product is when pests are small and are seen feeding close to the soil surface. Severely infested lawns roll like a rug and peel back when grass is pulled.

Cyfluthrin

• Cyflurthrin controls a range of pests including cutworms, ants and fleas in lawns. The synthetic pyrethroid is sold under different trade names and is available as a liquid, wettable powder and granules. The chemical rapidly breaks down in sunlight.

Carbaryl

• The insecticide carbaryl is sold under various trade names and controls a number of landscape and crop pests including cutworms in lawns. The general-use, wide-spectrum insecticide is sold in the form of dust, oil, wettable powder, granules and suspension. According to Cornell Cooperative Extension, the chemical controls nearly 100 different types of insects.
