Idyllic Herb Gardens

The perfect herb garden is both aesthetically pleasing and useful. Not only should it appeal to the senses of sight and smell, but the idyllic herb garden will also supply you with numerous tastes to add to your cooking.
  1. Identification

    • Many herbs have a strong fragrance that when planted together will create an idyllic experience. Choose herbs like oregano, lavender and thyme for their delicious aromas as well as their usefulness in the house.

    Considerations

    • Though not many herbs produce showy flowers, many varieties can still be visually stimulating. Lavender is tall and produces purple blooms while basil plants have white blooms. For something showier, valerian plants have red flowers while chicory blooms in blue.

    Size

    • The largest herb garden in the United States is The National Herb Garden in Washington, D.C. Built in 1980, The National Herb Garden features hundreds of rare and unusual herbs.
